Who’s behind this blog?
Assalamu Alaikum! Welcome to My Umrah Journey.
I’m a regular Indian Muslim who performed Umrah with my family in February 2023 — and we did it entirely on our own. No tour package. No group tour. No travel agent managing our trip. Just us, careful planning, and Allah’s guidance.
We flew from Bangalore to Madinah via Kuwait on a budget airline, stayed in affordable hotels, took the SAPTCO public bus from Madinah to Makkah, and returned via Jeddah and Bahrain. The entire trip cost us significantly less than what travel agencies were quoting for their standard packages.
Why I started this blog
After returning from Umrah, so many friends and family members asked me the same questions: “How did you book everything yourself?”, “Is it safe to go without a package?”, “How much did it actually cost?”
I realized there was almost no reliable, first-hand information available for Indian Muslims who want to self-book their Umrah. Most websites are run by travel agencies trying to sell packages — not by people who’ve actually done it independently.
So I created this blog to share everything I learned — the good, the bad, and the honest truth about self-planned Umrah from India.
What you’ll find here
- Step-by-step guides for planning Umrah without a travel agent
- Real cost breakdowns with actual amounts (no vague “starting from” prices)
- Honest hotel reviews from places I’ve actually stayed
- Transport guides — flights, buses, trains between Saudi cities
- Practical tips that you won’t find on travel agency websites
What this blog is NOT
- I am not a travel agent and I don’t sell packages
- I don’t work for any airline, hotel, or booking platform
- This is a personal blog sharing real travel experiences
- Some links on this site are affiliate links (I earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you). This helps keep the blog running.
